Back pain. We all have it at some point. Over do it at the gym. Lifting a little to much at the store. That random child that you know that always want to be held know matter the age.
Taking care of your back is an important job. It can really determine your quality of life in the short and long term. You core strength, extra weight around the middle, all play an important part on back longevity.
One aspect I’ve always heard about that a lot of people use was chiropractic therapy. I myself had never been to one. I’ve been fortunate enough in my life not to have experienced any nagging back issues. Needless to say after marrying a massage therapist (she used me as her test dummy for class) who informed me that my posture was always bad. I had an anterior shift in my pelvic girdle that made my rear end push forward. Giving the illusion that I had no backside. I carried a lot of stress in the middle of my back that made my shoulders roll forward. I informed her that when I was about 12 years old, I fell down a flight of stairs and fell directly on my arse.
I bruised my tailbone pretty bad, but being a boy, a pushed through. I was told this could’ve been a factor that caused me to be a little shorter than I wanted. To make a long story short, this year my spouse moved her practice into the office of chiropractic clinic. I relented and went in for a consult. I found out that I had a slight curve in my C1-C5 vertebrae, compression in my middle back and a twisted pelvic bone. This would explain my headaches and the tightness in my middle back when I would stand for long periods of time. We began my coarse of treatment. Two visits a week for 8 weeks and then a revaluation after. Its been 4 weeks in and I can already to tell a huge difference. My walk is better, my sleep is better, my headaches have begun to ease off and my wife has expressed that I look taller!
The therapist that I see is very vocal about how chiropractic health plays and important roll in the way your body functions over all. The spine is broken up into 4 regions and all these regions have nerves attached that go to different parts of the body, different organs and control different functions. All these nerve centers are controlled by the brain through the spinal cord. And what protects that? The vertebrae along the spine. You get compression issues, posture issues, or alignment issues that cause those signals to be interrupted, then all sorts of digestive, immune, pain, and stability problems show themselves and make life very difficult.
You have one body. Take care of it. It’s never too late!
